(Arco Iris is Spanish for rainbow.)
Curanderismo is an ancient, indigenous, wellness system that has been alive for thousands of years, passed down orally from one generation to the next, in mesoamerican cultures. Curanderismo is a compassionate, heart-centered, holistic approach to wellness, well-being, and intentional living. Practices include: ceremony, rituals, heart-strengthening talks, affirmations/prayers, and more.
The practices of curanderismo address the physical, spiritual, psychological, and emotional wellness of people who use it. The Spanish verb curar means to heal. Curanderismo is a system of healing.
It is believed that disharmony of mind, body and spirit is caused by social, psychological, environmental and physical factors. This includes the impact of white supremacy and systemic experiences such as racism, transphobia, heterosexism, and all forms of systemic injustice. This also includes generational trauma, as well as individual experiences in the body.
Curanderismo works with all that sustains life: the universe, the earth, the plants, the animals, as well as the four elements of life ~ earth, fire, air, and water ~ to restore harmony, as well as re-establish personal and social equilibrium.
Curanderismo is not a religion.
Curanderismo is a way of living life. It is compatible and can be integrated with any religion or spiritual path. The practices of curanderismo may help aid in developing a higher spirituality, and/or may deepen your experiences with your own religion.
All of You is welcome in the practices of curanderismo. I would love to hear about your spiritual/religious practices and how we might use this connection as a source for our work together.

Limpias may be done on individuals (ages 14+), homes, or offices. They may be done using plants, crystals, egg, rattle, drum, ointments, tuning fork, spirit waters, or any other medicine the practitioner feels called to during the ceremony.
There is typically a platica before and after a limpia, so that both the practitioner and the community member are on the same page for the purpose of the work.
