Most insurance companies require a letter from a mental health care professional prior to gender affirming care.  The letter is a statement that the client is ready and able to give informed consent for the surgery they are seeking.

I offer mental health evaluations and letters to provide to your endocrinologist, doctor, surgeon and/or insurance.

Best practices in transgender care emphasize looking at a community member’s needs holistically, rather than providing a letter without a plan in place. That’s why I use a two-appointment process. These visits give us a chance to gather the info needed for the letter, while also checking in on your overall well-being and making sure you feel supported.
